Product Guide: Micro Irrigation

For the smaller areas of your garden, micro irrigation is the way to go. Smaller components makes it easier for discrete watering & it’s often less expensive than other forms of irrigation. By using a combination of Poly Pipe & Micro Tube to get the water where you need it, Micro Irrigation is ideal for providing appropriate watering to pots or smaller plants. Check out the different ways you can use Micro Irrigation below:

Micro Irrigation Methods

Micro Sprays

Micro sprays will typically spray up to a 1.5-2m radius. They’re ideal for low-lying garden beds or delicate plants that suit a fine spray. They can punch directly into Poly Tubing for ground-level spraying or we recommend installing them on a Micro Riser & Stake which allows for greater spray coverage.

Fixed Micro Drippers

Fixed Micro Drippers are excellent for use in conjunction with Drip Irrigation systems with Drip Tube. Available in various fixed flow rates, 2-8lph, they can be punched directly into Poly Tube or Drip Tube as well as on Micro Tube. We think they’re ideal for use in pots or in drip irrigated sections of garden that need additional water.

Adjustable Micro Drippers

Antelco Shrubbler 360° Adjustable Barbed Dripper (bag of 100)

Adjustable drippers are the great allrounder, use them in conjunction with Spray or Drip Irrigation. Great for pots, veggie gardens, beds with high plant turnover or varying water requirements from plant-to-plant. Be careful not to open them to far when setting, they can use considerably more water than fixed drippers.

Micro Irrigation Accessories

Micro Irrigation is probably the easiest irrigation method to install. The pipe is easy to cut and work with which could have you with a working irrigation system in minutes, rather than hours. You just need the right bits.

4mm Micro Tube & Fittings

Toro Micro Tube 4mm x 5m

Working with Micro Tube & Fittings is as simple as it gets in irrigation. Tube is simply cut with secateurs or even scissors and the barbed fittings allow for simple “push-on” connection. The small diameter does mean you do have to limit the distance of micro tube runs though. So if you’re thinking about running any single lengths longer than 5m, we suggest switching it out for 13mm Poly Tube. Which, by the way, is easily punched into with Micro Barbed Fittings.

Stakes & Risers

For use with Micro Sprays, they allow you to securely mount Sprays in a raised position allowing for spray over low-lying foliage. Different options or combinations, can be connected directly to Poly Pipe or Micro Tube so you can easily position sprays where you need them.
