Two Wire Decoder Systems

A decoder system uses electronic modules (decoders) to control multiple irrigation valves over a two-wire path, enabling efficient and scalable irrigation management for large or complex sites.

Typically no, a decoder controller is specifically manufactured for 2-wire decoder irrigation systems. So it’s a usually case of choosing one method or the other. However, hybrid systems do exist that incorporate both.

A two-wire cable is run from the controller, with decoders installed at each valve location. Each decoder is programmed with a unique address to operate its assigned valve.

Check for wire breaks, damaged insulation, or water ingress. Use a decoder system tester to identify faults, and ensure all decoders are securely connected and programmed.
